Mischa Webley

Mischa began making films with a Super-8 camera in high school as a way to bring to life the stories he’d been writing since he was a kid. He learned to make films the old fashioned way;  reading every screenplay he could get his hands on, borrowing equipment from freelance jobs, getting friends involved and inspired, and shooting  movies on the weekends.

His debut feature film, The Kill Hole, premiered at the Santa Barbara Film Festival in 2012 and starred Chadwick Boseman in his first lead role as a troubled Iraqi war veteran, alongside Tory Kittles and Billy Zane. Tagged by rogerebert.com as “a sleeper uncovered,” the film picked up several awards on the festival circuit on its way to a theatrical and digital release.

Known for original, character-driven stories, Mischa’s writing has garnered recognition from venues around the country, with finalist placements at the Austin Film Festival script competition, among others. In 2020, his pitch for the surrealist musical adventure stoner comedy, Black Cabbie, took the prize at AFF’s pitch competition.

His most recent short film, Metal, premiered at the Austin Film Festival in 2021.
