Instructor: Brent Rogers

About the Instructor:
Brent Rogers has worked for over 15 years in Portland as an audio engineer, producer, professional musician and composer. As a member of the team at REX Production & Post (www.rexpost.com,) Brent provides engineering services including VO recording, ADR, Foley, SFX, ProTools tracking, editing, and 5.1 surround sound mixing. As a musician, composer and arranger, Brent has a knack for using musical elements as SFX in a process he calls "Musical SFX Orchestration."

Since joining REX in 2010, Brent has been part of the audio engineering team on numerous independent films including "Population 2," "Rage," and "The Falls."  He also records VO, ADR and music pre-recordings for shows including Leverage and Portlandia as well as providing sweetening, musical SFX orchestration, mixing and new music composition for clients including Microsoft, Adidas, Kaiser Permanente, and others.

On the productions side, Brent has spent considerable time directing multi-camera video shoots that also include multi-channel audio capture, live switching and video projection. His specialty is symphonic music recording and video capture for ensembles including the Metropolitan Youth Symphony, Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and the Oregon Symphony.

In addition to his duties at REX,  Brent has released several albums of his own original music and is a performing vocalist, bass and guitar player with the Americana band Southern Nights and as a duo with KJ Miller.  Most recently, Brent and his brother Klay Rogers have finished writing a new Broadway-style show called "Oil Change, a musical comedy about race cars and romance." Brent hopes to take that show to Broadway, the big screen or both!
